Graveside services for Carroll G. Jones, age 89, of Ruston, will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Pines Memorial Gardens in Ruston, LA. Rev. Brian Mercer will officiate the service. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Mr. Jones was born on February 5, 1922 in Simsboro, LA and died on December 25, 2011 in Arcadia, LA. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ruston. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Ruston High in 1939; graduated in 1942 from LSU where he played football and was a member of LSU National “L” Club; and graduated LSU Law School in 1949. Mr. Jones served in the United States Army as a Captain during WWII from 1942 until 1946. He earned a Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart and oak Leaf Cluster Bronze Large (Double); American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Metal and Bronze Star attachment (Double); World War II Victory Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award. He was elected to the Louisiana State Legislature from 1949 thru 1953; was an attorney for numerous years and was in the Oil and Gas business as both an operator and landman. Mr. Jones was a member of various professional organizations: Louisiana State Bar Association, American Association of Professional Landmen, Ark-La-Tex Landmen’s Association, and numerous others.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Tucker Jones; daughter, Genevieve Lincoln; and brother, Richard Jones. He is survived by four daughters: Barbara O’Neal Harper of Dayton, OH; Pamela O’Neal Loe of Ruston, LA; Deborah O’Neal Haddox of Ruston, LA; Rebecca Lynn Jones of Farmerville, LA; son, Ivy Lincoln of Little Rock AR; eleven grandchildren; brothers, W. A. “Dub” Jones and John Earl Jones; and numerous other family members.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or to any military charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Arcadia, LA and especially the hall 2 nurses and Mrs. Kathy Hall; Hospice of Caring Hearts and Mrs. Paula Kaercher; and Dr. William Sanders for all their excellent care and support.
