Area residents voice concerns
CHOUDRANT — Owners of a plot of land in Choudrant will have to wait to find out the verdict on a proposed zoning classification change.
At the Sept. 12 meeting, village aldermen were presented with a request by landowners Bud and Skip Morrison to convert a piece of property — adjacent to both Lamar Drive and U.S. Highway 80 — they own in Choudrant from a Residential 1 property to a Residential 2 property.
Mayor Bill Sanderson explained to aldermen that an R-1 property designation means that a piece of land can only be broken up into lots that are 1-acre or bigger. An R-2 designation would mean the land could be divided into much smaller lots with smaller houses placed on it.
