Scrap metal thefts increase in Union Parish
MARION (AP) — Authorities say the high prices being paid for scrap metal and copper are keeping Union Parish sheriff’s investigators busy.
Four people were arrested Thursday and Friday and warrants issued for another suspect.
Arrested Thursday was Titus Douglas, 28, of Marion. He is accused of stealing pipe and channel iron from a victim’s property in Marion. The victim reported the value of the pipe and iron at $1,000. Douglas was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center for theft of items valued at more than $500 and criminal trespass. His bond is set at $3,200.
