The local Holiday Inn Express came to the rescue of a local resident, when a two-story garage apartment caught fire at 10 a.m. Wednesday on Edgewood Street.
Public Education Office Eric Brazzel said on arrival a two-story garage apartment was found heavily engulfed in flames.
“The apartment was very close to another home making firefighters concentrate on protecting the exposures until other firefighters could control the flames,” he said. “The gas tank from a motorcycle parked under the garage exploded causing a 50-foot wall of fire around and above the apartment.”
Money was on the mind at the regularly scheduled Village of Choudrant meeting on Tuesday night.
Aldermen discussed a fine that was issued to the construction group renovating Choudrant High School, as well as several grants. They also discussed concerns about the fire station project and the rezoning of a piece of land.
February has been eventful at the Lincoln Parish Early Childhood Center. Students recently celebrated the end of their Louisiana studies unit with a Mardi Gras parade. Each class was dress as a different “krewe” and the children paraded around the parking lot tossing candy and beads to the crowd.
