Summitt ready to battle early dementia
Pat Summitt, the Hall of Fame coach who has waged many a battle against Louisiana Tech in women’s basketball, now faces the biggest challenge of her life.
The longtime head coach at the University of Tennessee has been diagnosed with onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type.
Just as she’s done throughout her career, the 59-year-old Summitt isn’t about to give up the fight.
Or her legendary coaching position, one that has made her the all-time winner in the collegiate game, women’s or men’s. She enters season No. 38 with 1,071 wins.
