Louisiana Tech University has enrolled more students this fall than at any time in its history, and has achieved a nearly 55 percent growth in first-time freshmen since fall of 2012.
According to its fall 2016 headcount announced Wednesday, Tech has enrolled 12,694 students for the fall quarter — a 2.3 percent increase over last year and eclipsing the previous record enrollment of 12,414 students set last fall.
On Thursday the Ruston Fire Department-EMS responded to five separate vehicular accidents across the parish.
ublic Education Officer Eric Brazzel was able to give a brief over view of the accidents.
At 7:30 a.m. RFD-EMS responded to Louisiana Highway 507 in Simsboro for the first accident of the day.
Pictured above, at 8:30 a.m. they responded to McCullin Road, north of Simsboro. Brazzel said it appeared the driver exited the roadway on one side and overcorrected exiting the opposite side of the road and overturning.
A second person has been arrested in connection with the April 16 murder of a Ruston man.
The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Tyrone Lavell Singleton, 33, of 1221 Walter Road, Spearsville, on one count of murder — second degree.
LPSO Public Information Officer Maj. Chad Alexander said Singleton was arrested after investigators found sufficient evidence to tie him to the murder of Willie Earl Patterson Jr.
Jodi Adolphus, 33, was the original person arrested in regards to Patterson being shot several times in the upper torso outside the Legends Nightclub in Grambling.
