The magazine stated “Engineers who want to work in the tiniest scales have a lot of choices at Louisiana Tech...A third of Louisiana Tech’s science and engineering faculty regularly conduct micro and nano research, and 143 graduate students participated in micro and nanotech research projects in 2005.”

To state the difference of micro and nano technologies, micrometers are used to measure small devices the size of cells or hairs while nanometers are used to measure the sizes of molecules and atoms.
