Funeral services for Ocie Roy Spillers, 94, of Choudrant will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Choudrant with Rev. Werner Aswell and Rev. David Harrell officiating. The services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Spillers was born on March 13, 1917, and he entered his heavenly home on Saturday, June 18, 2011. He was owner of O. R. Spillers and Sons, a general merchandise store, for nearly 30 years.  He loved to be outside where he enjoyed hunting and working in his garden.  Most recently, his passion was caring for his chickens. He gathered eggs every day and often shared them with his family and friends. Mr. Spillers was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Choudrant. Until the time of his illness, one could always count on him to be in his Sunday School Class and in his pew for worship services on Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. He will be sorely missed by his church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Essie Hammett Spillers, son, Donald Roy Spillers, grandson, Jason Roy Spillers, sisters, Jerelene Cole and Erma Lee Pesnell, and brothers, Edwin Spillers, Orville Spillers, Clifford Spillers, Lamoin Spillers, and Printess Spillers. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 72 years, Eloise Spillers; sons: Lamar Spillers and wife Lucy, Drew Spillers and wife Phyllis; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Spillers King, sister, Dot Pesnell, and brother, Marvin Spillers.  He had seven grandchildren, Phyllis Maddox (Jr), Kayla Grafton (Phillip), David Spillers, Jonathan Spillers (Tiffany), Sandi Doty (Stephen), Daniel Spillers (Amanda), and Timothy Spillers (Rachel).  Also, he had 13 great grandchildren, Melissa Maddox, Austin and Brittany Spillers, Nathan and Emily Grafton, Andy, Hannah, Cason, and Tyson Spillers, Allison, Colton, and Shane Doty, and Marirose Spillers.  Mr. Spillers also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be Johnny McCorkle, Mike Griffin, Dennis Griffin, Daniel Spillers, Earl Whitman, Troy Whitman, Jr Maddox and Donnie Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be Edroe Pesnell and Bobby Mizell.  Planned memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Choudrant Building Fund or the place of your choice.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston on Monday, June 20. Interment will be at Beulah Cemetery near Calhoun under the direction of Owens Funeral Home.
