Lincoln Parish School Board members will discuss the annual November salary supplemental checks during their upcoming regular board meeting set for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at 410 S. Farmerville St.
According to a memo from Business Manager George Murphy to school board members, sales tax collections have decreased by 4.62 percent this year.
Because of this, Murphy is suggesting to board members that supplemental “13th checks” stay at the same rate as the 2011-12 school year. Those rates are set at $2,450 for certified personnel and $1,225 for support personnel.
Henry Futch, eighth grade, and Will Rudnicki, 12th grade, were named the Cedar Creek School Volunteers of the Year in The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recently.
In addition, Audrey Miller, sixth grade, received a Certificate of Merit for her volunteer community service.

Louisiana Tech University officials announced today that its season opener against Texas A&M has been postponed until Oct. 13 due to the impending effects of Hurricane Isaac, which is scheduled to make landfall along the Louisiana coast in the next 24 hours.
Tech Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde said that after consulting with Tech President Dan Reneau, head football coach Sonny Dykes, Texas A&M officials and numerous regional and national weather agencies, the decision was made to postpone the game.
The Mixed Ensemble at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts presented a small groups concert on Oct. 11, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performance and Technology. All of the works, except the flute piece, were either arranged or rearranged for this ensemble by Al Benner, director of the ensemble and principal lecturer of instrumentals, theory and composition at LSMSA. Music performed by the students included “Concerto No. 1, Op. XV,” “Nocturne V, K.V.
