Max Roan Westbrook
Graveside services for Mr. Max Roan Westbrook, age 89 of Ruston will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston with Dr. Wilton Wall officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM service time Wednesday at Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Mr. Westbrook died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Max was born in Vivian, LA on March 18, 1922 to Annie Mearl and Robert Ira Westbrook. After graduating from Blanchard High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ruston. After returning from WWII, he worked for Tri State Oil Tool Company and married Annie Lucille Gipson of Ruston. Max later owned Ruston Bowling Lanes in Ruston, LA and L&M Mini Mart of Ruston. He enjoyed playing dominos in his spare time. Max was always friendly and had a smile for friends and customers. Max is survived by his wife Lucille; their two children: Donnie Westbrook of Homer; and Kathy Bayne and husband Bill of Ruston; his grandchildren: West Bayne and wife Christiann, and Wade Bayne of Ruston; Jody Westbrook, Ben Westbrook and wife Jennifer of Jonesboro, Allison Dillon and husband Cody and Max Lane Westbrook of Homer and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister: Gloria Whetstone of Irving, TX. Max is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (Buddy) Westbrook and sister Iralene Peavy.
