PERTH, Australia — Perth Wildcats fans can prepare for an aerial assault this season, with the signing of high-flying former Louisiana Tech Bulldog Jaron Johnson.
Johnson recently agreed to a one-year deal with the reigning Australian National Basketball League Champions.
“I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity to be heading down under to play basketball,” said Johnson. I know the Perth Wildcats are a championship organisation and I want to be a part of that success.
The Cedar Creek football team has now trekked where no other Cougar has gone before, as senior quarterback Mark Van’s star-studded performance Friday night helped propel the Creek to its first ever state semifinals football playoff appearance.
Van’s three touchdowns on the night paced the way for a 28-7 win in Division IV quarterfinal action at Cougar Stadium.
Former New Living Word star Javier Roper has joined former teammate Amari McCray in becoming Hawk hoopsters for the men’s basketball program at Howard College in Big Springs, Texas.
Roper, a two-time Class C state MVP at NLW, was a redshirt on the Grambling State Tigers basketball team last year but signed last week to continue his basketball career at Howard College.
“I tried to make it work but it just wasn’t the right place for me,” Roper said of his experience at Grambling State. “I worked hard at the academics and taking care of that, but the team wasn’t the right fit.
