Of all the wonderful things my mother was, an exemplary housekeeper was not one of them. Yes, she kept things clean and neat, the laundry done and good meals cooked, but Mama liked stacks of stuff: magazines to read, bills to pay, pictures she could use for art ideas.
Mama also liked things that attracted dust: dried flowers, baskets and most anything under the general header of whatnots. My mother came by these tendencies quite naturally. Her mother, my grandmother, was the same way.
