On Tuesday evening in the Community Room of the Origin Bank Financial Center residents came together to celebrate the result of teachers’ guidance and students’ talent during the 10th Annual Earvin Ryland Youth Art Festival presented by the Kiwanis Club of Ruston.
The festival features painting, drawing and other art forms by students of Lincoln Parish high schools, and painting and drawing by student in grades seven and eight.
Ed Shell, a member of the Kiwanis Club, welcomed attendees to the event and reminded them of why they had gathered on the rainy Tuesday evening.
As the days get longer and the weather continues to get prettier, residents are likely to see more motorcycles out on the roads.
So, it seems like perfect timing that May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
According to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, 833 people were killed in motorcycle crashes in Louisiana over the past 10 years. That is why Louisiana has joined in the effort to raise awareness of this important issue.
