A memorial service honoring the life of Charles Douglas “Doug” Burt, (61) will be held at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, from 5-8 p.m. and services on Friday, July 1 at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Doug left this life for a much better life after a sudden illness. The Lord took him as he wished, sudden and painless. Born and raised in Shreveport, LA, Doug graduated from Byrd High School. He then went on to LA Tech where he received his degree in Commercial Art, later making Ruston his home of 40 plus years.

Russell Alan Ferrington, 57 of Ruston, LA, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ruston, LA. under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Alan was the son of Russell C. and Mildred D. Ferrington, both deceased. He is survived by uncle and aunt; Ray and Bunchie Ferrington, and aunts Evelyn and Tiny Ferrington, all of Wisner, LA, and numerous cousins and special friends. He was an accountant for Exxon, for Celeron Corp. of Lafayette, and its subsidiaries and parent companies.

Memorial services for Paul Charles Buske, 40, Lawrence, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, La. Mr. Buske died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1970, in Bloomington, Ill., the son of John M. and Elizabeth “Beth” A. Duguid Buske. He graduated from Paris, Ill. High School, and later attended Louisiana Tech. Mr. Buske held various positions with the Nestle Company for 15 years. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed golf and fishing. He married Megan N. Smith on June 19, 2004, in Greensboro, N.C.

Funeral services for Walter Brian Warren, 61 of Madison, TN are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Corinth Baptist Church near Dubach. Officiating will be Reverend Leroy Skipper and Reverend Joe Skipper. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Brian was born in Arcadia, LA on December 22, 1949 and died in Madison, TN on June 18, 2011.

Memorial services for Jo Ann Spivey, age 61, of Houston, Tx. will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 6:00 pm Zion Traveler Baptist Church of Ruston, Pastor Maurice White. Jo Ann was born February 8, 1950 in Ruston, La. She went home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2011 after a long battle with Systemic Lupus and other illnesses.

Funeral Service for Barbara Ann "Kitty" Garner will be held at Zion Traveler Baptist Church, Ruston, La. at 1:00 pm., Thursday, June 23, 2011. The wake will be at Our Christian Funeral Home, Ruston, La. at 6:00 pm., Wednesday, June 22, 2011. She was married 60 yrs. to Charles E. Garner, Sr. She was the first African American female to serve on the Lincoln Parish Police Jury. She had one daughter Randa L. Frank (Israel) to proceed her in death. She has three sons Bradley K. Garner ( Alice), Charles E. Garner Jr. (Tina), Derick V. Garner (Sandra) & one daughter Peggy G.

Funeral services for Ocie Roy Spillers, 94, of Choudrant will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Choudrant with Rev. Werner Aswell and Rev. Technical-Sergeant Joseph Andrew Javens, age 49 of Ruston, joined our Lord, Monday, June 13, 2011. Joe Javens was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania on August 2, 1961, second oldest of four sons, to Joseph Leroy Javens and Edna Rae Rose Javens. He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years then entered the reserves for 23 years, where he was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in the 917th squadron in Bossier City, LA.
