John Williams, former Mayor of Grambling, Louisiana passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011. The funeral for Mr. Williams in on Friday, May 27, 2011. He will lie in state from 10:00 AM
- 1:00 PM at the New Rocky Valley Baptist Church in Grambling, Louisiana. The funeral will begin at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the John Williams, Jr. Educational Scholarship Fund at the Grambling University National Alumni Association, PO Box 565 Grambling, LA 71245.

Joe M. Richardson, Jr.

Services for Mr. Joe M. Richardson, Jr. will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 27, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jerry Hilbun, and Rev. Brian Mercer. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Richardson was born May 23, 1934 and passed away May 23, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents: Erline and Joe M. Richardson, Sr. and his brother: Paul S. Richardson.

Wilbur H. (Whitey) Hammons, 87, a lifelong resident of Arcadia, Louisiana passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation services will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home at 209 N. Bonner Street in Ruston, Louisiana. The funeral service and burial will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Salem United Methodist Church, 11793 Hwy 151 in Dubach, Louisiana. Mr. Hammons was born January 24, 1924 in Arcadia, Louisiana to Horace Dan Hammons and Avis Dye Hammons.

Agnes Irene McFearin Hunter, born April 7, 1924, quietly passed from life on this earth to eternal rest in heaven on Thursday, May 19, 2011, with her daughter by her side.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 22 at 3 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church near Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel officiated by the Reverend Scott Jennings and Bro. Billy Joe Youngblood.  Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery. A lifelong resident of the Corinth Community, Mrs.

Melvin L. Langpap

A memorial service for Melvin L. Langpap will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Evans and Rev. Hulen Warren officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Melvin Ludwig Friedrich Langpap was born on June 21, 1916, in Humboldt, South Dakota. A member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls for over fifty years, he and his wife joined their daughter, Karen Jacobs and son-in-law, Dr. Edward C.

Dr. F. Jay Taylor

Funeral services for Dr. F. Jay Taylor will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Ruston, LA. He died Sunday following a brief illness. When Dr. Taylor came to Ruston in 1962 as the 12th president of then Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, it was a small rural North Louisiana institution with fewer than 4,000 students.

Sybil Virginia Alexander Howard Henry

Funeral services for Sybil Virginia Alexander Howard Henry were held at the First Baptist Church of Ruston on Friday afternoon, May 13, 2011 at 4:00 o’clock with Dr. Chris Craig officiating. Visitation was at the church at 3:00 o’clock. Following the service, interment was at the Simsboro Cemetery in Simsboro, Louisiana. Mrs. Sybil Howard Henry, 93, died on May 9, 2011 in Bryan, Texas. She was born in Simsboro, Louisiana on December 4, 1917, and had lived in Ruston for the past 36 years, until a short move to Bryan, Texas.

Evelyn Gordon Bagrash

Mrs. Evelyn Gordon Bagrash, 92 of Ruston died Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Ruston following a brief illness. A memorial graveside service will be scheduled for a later date at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Bagrash retired from Citi Corp Bank where she worked as an executive secretary to the president of Citi Corp. She worked in banking for 50 years.She was an avid world traveler and loved her animals. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, George Bagrash.

A memorial service for Mr. William Benjimin (Ben) Stuart, age 59 of Bernice, will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at South Parkway Church in Ruston.  Pastor Chris Witt, Rev. Robert Stuart and Rev. Dennis Stuart will officiate the service.

Ann Borland Smelley

Graveside services for Mrs. Ann Borland Smelley, age 93, of Ruston will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 15, 2011 at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dale Oden. Mrs. Smelley was born November 11, 1917 and passed away May 12, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Ralph J. Smelley and son: Hal Smelley. Mrs. Smelley was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church, the Women’s Auxillary of the VFW, and a former member of Sunset Garden Club. Mrs.
