Dorothy Brown, 60, of Choudrant, passed in peace from this life on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Pointe Coupee Hospital Hospice floor in New Rhodes. She was born November 5, 1952 in McAllen, Texas to the union of her parents, Felipe Ramous Davila and Carmen Cisneros Davila. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be forever remembered as an amazing grandmother, mother, and friend. Despite a long battle with cancer, she continued to be active in her children and grandchildren's lives.

Funeral services for Sharon Jennings Hamilton, age 68 of Vienna will be 2:00PM Monday, November 4, 2013 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Burial will follow in Vienna Cemetery. Mrs. Hamilton was born December 6, 1944 in Taylor, AR. and passed away October 29, 2013 on her way home from an African Safari vacation due to health complications. She was a loving housewife, mother and meme. She loved traveling, fishing, flowers and visiting with family. Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by parents, Grady Sr. and Dovie Mae Jennings; brothers, Hollis, Gladney and Grady Jr.

Funeral services for Virginia Ann Reed Knight, 75, of Choudrant, LA, will be held at 10 a.m. on October 28, 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston, LA with Dr. Michael Hawley officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Knight was born in Wilmont, AR on August 26, 1938. The Lord called her home on October 26,2013 in Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe , LA. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Funeral services for Florence Collie Johnston, 75, will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel in Shreveport at 2500 Southside Drive. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. B.J. “Rocky” Maddox and Rocky Paul Maddox. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a service following at 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Johnston, her parents, Algie and Lucelia Collie; siblings, John Bill Collie, Marnee Stephenson and Alice Howard.

Funeral services for Mr. I.B. Emmons Jr., 81 of Ruston will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 28, 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston with Dr. Michael Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Mr. Emmons died Friday, October 25, 2013 in Ruston. Mr. Emmons was a US Army Korean War veteran and longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was retired from T.L. James in Ruston and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is preceded in death by his son, Paul P. Emmons. Mr.

Dr. Ronald H. (Ron) Thompson, Sr., passed away suddenly on the morning of October 24th, 2013. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be at Temple Baptist Church on Monday at 3 pm, with Rev. Dale Oden presiding, with interment following at Pine Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. Adopted as an infant from the Memphis Children's Home by Roy and Marie Thompson, of Monroe, LA, Ron found his biological parents when he was 50 years old.

Dr. Byron Curtis Dickerson, 50, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in Suwanee, Georgia. He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on September 22, 1963, the first born twin of Ural Weldon and Alma (Ricks) Dickerson. He was the grandson of Heward and Arvie Ricks and Jesse and Omega Dickerson. He graduated from Ruston High School in Ruston, La. in 1981. He completed his undergraduate studies at Louisiana Tech with a degree in Zoology and went on to earn his medical degree from LSUMC in Shreveport, Louisiana.

James Albert Reynolds, age 87, of Ruston, Louisiana formerly of New Iberia, Louisiana died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his home. He was born April 22, 1926 at Kinder, Louisiana to Bernal Dewey and Edith Marie Reynolds. He served in the Army Air Corps at the end of World War II. He was retired from Exxon Mobile after 32 years of service and was a member of Cook Baptist in Ruston, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Ann Reynolds; a brother B.D. Reynolds, Jr.

William Wesley Lantrip, Jr., 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 24, 2013, while in the comfort of his daughter's home, surrounded by his children. Born in Cameron, Texas on March 19, 1920 to William Wesley Lantrip, Sr. and Kathryn Turney Lantrip, Mr. Lantrip, better known to most as “Coach Lantrip,” was a 1940 graduate of Lake Charles High School, where he was a star halfback on the football team. He attended LSU where he played football his freshman year until he was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1941.

Alcibee B. Tharp, 91, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at her home. Born in Choudrant, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Cledith and Alma Collie Butler. Alcibee was a nurse's aid before her retirement and she moved from North Little Rock, Arkansas to the Spring City community in 2005. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Association, the Sunshiner's in Arkansas and the Red Hat Club of Spring City. Alcibee was a member of the North Hills Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband James P.
