Millien, RHS girls tops at Simsboro meet

Chase Millien captured victories in two long distance running events and Ruston High School’s girls captured the team title in their division at the recently held Simsboro High School Invitational.
Millien finished No. 1 for the boys’ 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:36.77 and also led the field for the 3,200-m run at 10:15.89.
Ruston High’s girls earned their team crown with a total of 228 points, easily outdistancing Monroe Neville High (57).
In the boys’ division, Ruston High was the runner-up with 137 points and Lakeside gained the championship with 143 points.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Preston Beck was four-of-five at the plate with two RBIs and the Mavericks touched up the Louisiana Tech pitching staff for 11 runs on 16 hits to knock off the Bulldogs 11-6 Wednesday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.

CHOUDRANT — Sophomore Sam Forgan shot a final round two-under-par 70 to finish in a tie for third place in the individual competition and lead Louisiana Tech University to a second-place team finish at the 2011 Bulldog Classic at Squire Creek Country Club.
