Library on LPPJ deadline for budget

in

The Lincoln Parish Library Board of Control nearly called a no quorum Wednesday, but with members walking in at the last minute the board was able to conduct business.
Instead of rescheduling the meeting for another day Library Director Vivian McCain put in personal phones calls to board members who were not present because there was one item of business that needed to be taken care of immediately for the Lincoln Parish Police Jury.
With the end of 2014 coming soon, the board of control needed to give the LPPJ an updated budget.

The project, started during the 2012-13 year, focuses on enhancing literacy among elementary school students in an effort to increase the number of local children graduating from high school.

Some other goals, according to United Way, are to create enthusiastic readers who can read at or above grade level and empower our communities to help our children.

Darden, Jessica 2014.jpg

By now everyone has seen their fair share of ghosts, goblins and ghouls. But the safety of this fun filled holiday should continue on into the night.

• Ensure that your child carries a flashlight and/or wears reflective clothing to maximize visibility for drivers.

Global thinking with local action

in

I want to submit a few common reasons for the apathy that has been shown towards the candidates running for the 5th Districts’ Congressional seat that Nancy Bergeron wrote of in a recent column. She has plainly stated the ineffective, and clumsy way that the governor gads about doing his (not Louisiana’s) business. These are obvious to any living person and I applaud her for continuing to bring these useless forays up that never help Louisianians at all.
