CEDAR CREEK: Students excel in spelling, science, sports, more

Spelling Bee
The Cedar Creek School schoolwide spelling bee winner is seventh grader Luke Black, who will continue on to the regional competition this semester.
First runner up was fourth grader Annie Jones.
The following talented spellers also earned eligibility to compete in the school-wide bee: Devika Dua, Skyler Dycus, Allie Furr, Collin Hill (Camaraderie Award), Corbin Johnson, Virginia Grace Mills, Jackson Page, Grace Trammell and John Davis Vessel (Spirit Award).

I have started to really feel bad for Andrew Whitworth.
I am beginning to wonder if he’s just flat out jinxed or is on a streak of bad luck.
Maybe he’s not being cooperative with NFL beat writers, but that can’t be the case because he’s as media friendly as any player who suits up in Roger Goodell’s world.

LPPJ appoints new representative

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury held a special called meeting on Thursday to appoint a resident to the District No. 12 seat.
District 12 was represented by newly elected Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker. His recommendation was that Heather Walker, his wife, be appointed to the position for the remainder of the term.
The term will end Dec. 31, 2015.
Ronny Walker cited his reasoning for this recommendation was to give a level playing field to those who would potentially campaign this year.
