The three bond sales, awarded through the USDA and Department of Environmental Quality, were originally made in 1970, 1993 and 1995 and total about $2,800,000 worth of debt. Monthly payments have paid down the balances.

The public has right to know

However, the governor’s top lawyer says the bill limits existing public records exemptions.
The full Senate is set to debate the issue, but the arguments on both sides hinge on how existing law is interpreted.
Jindal’s executive counsel said the public records exemption for the governor covers not only everything in the governor’s immediate office, but information in the custody of other state agencies the governor oversees — a lengthy list of more than 60 agencies, boards and commissions.

GHS teen goes for 3rd MVP award

“They had tryouts and were picking one more member,” Peterson recalled. “There was a 100-meter dash, and it was all about running for time to see who would get picked.”
Peterson didn’t make the cut and lost out to Sharika Spivey, who would go on to have an excellent career at Ruston High School.
“Would you believe she’s my cousin?” she said, now able to grin and bear it over the loss to a family member. “Every time the team left for a meet that year, I would look out the window and cry, knowing I should have been there. It really hurt.”
