The writing’s now on the Web

The truth is that it is becoming ever more difficult to send a message and have it not only be received, but understood and absorbed.
Our electronic attention span has been boiled down to nanoseconds and megabytes. I barely skim the beginning of a lengthy (and likely fabricated) e-mail about a starving child in a foreign country who will be saved if only I forward the message on to 15 of my friends before I click the delete button and move on to the next bit of Internet junk.

Heat devices pose hazard

Unfortunately, such devices are the cause of a number of fires each season; heating fires lead to about 36 percent of residential fires in rural areas each year, according to the USAF.

Pricing system could protect Sparta

The over pumping is depleting the aquifer, causing groundwater levels to drop. The drop in water levels increases the threat that saltwater intrusion will contaminate the aquifer and land surfaces will subside.

Landrieu told those in attendance that Louisiana Tech University had a lot of which to be proud.
“There’s not a rival anywhere in the southern U.S. to what’s here in north Louisiana,” Landrieu said.
“Louisiana Tech is on the cutting edge of so much. This was a great presentation.”
Speaker Salter also had high praise for Louisiana Tech.
“I’ve been impressed for years with Louisiana Tech,” Salter said. “You do a wonderful job.”
Quezaire, chairman of the House Transportation Committee, said Tech is a leader in research.
He also talked about infrastructure in Lincoln Parish.
