Couple celebrates 55th wedding anniversary

Richard M. and Lucy B. Sapp of Arcadia celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11 at First National Bank’s First Room in Ruston. Immediate family and friends attended. The Sapps have five children and 11 grandchildren. Their children are Dexter Sapp, Garnetta Pruitt, Kenneth Sapp, Douglas Sapp and Carlyl Roberson. The Sapps were married on Sept. 11, 1955.

Blunt, Bradley to exchange vows

Larry and Connie Blunt, of Ruston, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Emma Dawn Blunt, of Ruston, to Jordan Lee Bradley, of Ames, Iowa.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ava Cook and the late William Cook, of Amarillo, Texas, and the late William and Emma B. Blunt, of Natchitoches.

Emma is a 2005 alumna of Cedar Creek School. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2009 with a degree in Family and Child Studies. She is currently there working on her Master of Arts in Teaching PK-3.

Youngs celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

D.J. and Janice Young of Calhoun celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by going on a 10-day Alaskan cruise.

They were married on Aug. 21, 1960. The Young’s children are Janet McCarty and Jill Dozart.
Their grandchildren are Ashley, Brittany, Caitlin, Zach, Dylan and Emily, and great-grandchildren are Briley and Kinley.

Jones, Neview engaged to wed

Barry and Karen Neview, of Ruston, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Megan Marie Neview, of Ruston, to Jonathan Craig Jones, of Arcadia.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Frank A. and Irma Neview and the late Ralph and Evelyn Miksa.

Megan is a 2008 alumna of Bethel Christian School and attends Career Technical College. She is employed at Karen’s Hallmark.

Alexander, Garner to marry Nov. 20

Dustin Wayne Alexander and Anna Elizabeth Garner, both of Ruston, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Cheryl and Troy Acree, of Shreveport, and Marty and Jeff Garner, of Roseville, Calif. She is the granddaughter of Mary Beth and Don McCullen, of Simsboro, Gloria and Joe Garner, of Shreveport, Elsie and Earl Acree, of Shreveport, and John Sutton, of Ponca City, Okla. Mary Elizabeth Byrd and the late Rev. Jack Byrd, of Minden, are her great-grandparents.

Ronald “Jimmy” Mack, of Ruston, and Jenny Flowers, of Dubach, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Angela Odell Hitt, of Dubach, and Allen and Ann Flowers, of Ruston.

She is the granddaughter of Aubrey and the late Lettie Aulds, of Dubach, Helen Flowers, and the late Larence Flowers, of Ruston.

Couple marks 60 years

Richard H. “Buck” and Medrick Hood Canterbury will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 7 at the home of Donald and Robyn Franklin in Simsboro. The Franklin home is the former First Baptist Church of Arcadia parsonage where the honored couple was married on Aug. 5, 1950.

The Canterbury’s children are Keith and Jan Canterbury and Tammie C. Rockett. Their grandchildren are Clark and Angela Canterbury, Abby Canterbury and Will and Caroline Rockett. They have one great grandson, Richard Canterbury.

William Daniel Womack and Lyndie J. Kelley are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride-elect is the daughter of James Ray Roberts and the late Bobbie Louise Roberts, of Dubach. She is the granddaughter of Robert Lloyd McGee and the late Mary Louise McGee of Grayson, and the late Wilbur and Edna Kelley, of Monroe. Lyndie is employed at Caples and Robinson Orthodontics of Ruston.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Womack, of Ruston. He is the grandson of the late James Adrion and Thera Woods, of Simsboro, the late Charline Young Woods, of Ansley, the late Earline Womack Johnson, of Jonesboro, and the late Harvey and Essie Boles, of Joyce.
