Cornbread a tasty tradition

Andy Griffin was credited with disputing the mathematical equation of “pi are square” with a correction of “pie are round, cornbread are square.” Being a Southerner, he should have known better.
“Cornbread are round, brownies are square.” We’re talking iron skillet round.
Cornbread is the ultimate comfort food for me. I like it buttered, chased with a glass of sweet tea or crumbled up in a large glass and drowned in cold butter milk.
Cornbread demands smothering love. You can cover under a blanket of chicken and dumplings or you can plaster with a ladle of thick, brown gravy.

Help police solve crimes

The recent Christmas and New Year’s holidays were filled with family time, fireworks and other festivities for many area residents.
But, unfortunately, there were also a couple of crimes, which remain unsolved, that took place during this time.

When MTV was not reality

I first realized the world of television was changing when I heard Bowling for Soup’s 2004 song “1985.” The verses that included “when did reality become TV” and “music still on MTV” brought to my attention how much television has changed since I was in elementary school.
Nowadays, there is an overflow of reality televisions shows that fill up most time slots on MTV and other channels like BET and VH1. It seems like anyone with a somewhat interesting life or even a mundane life can score their own show.

Only proposals submitted on Proposal Forms will be accepted. Proposal Forms and Specifications may be obtained from the office of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury, P.O. Box 979, Ruston, Louisiana 71273-0979. The Police Jury reserves the right to reject any or all proposals for just cause.
