RHS girls stopped

in

Ruston High’s girls dropped a 48-31 District 2-5A contest to No. 3 Class 5A ranked West Monroe on Wednesday.
Keantra Wright was the leading scorer for the Lady Bearcats (11-12, 1-1) with n tne points.
Coach David Aguilar’s RHS squad entered the game with a four-game winning streak.
In the first weekly Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll announced on Tuesday, West Monroe (24-2, 1-1) was ranked behind Shreveport Southwood and Natchitoches Central among 5A programs.

Techsters: Tough road trip to Idaho

There’s no easy way to get from Ruston to Moscow.
And that’s whether Moscow is located in either Russia or Idaho.
In the case of Louisiana Tech University’s Lady Techsters, it’s Moscow, Idaho, where the team finally arrived late Thursday night after a grueling, nearly 20-hour itinerary complicated by weather conditions and flight delays.

Esta L. McGuire

Esta L. McGuire was born April 26, 1916 and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday morning, January 15, 2013 at the age of 96.

She was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, La., prior to moving to Baytown, TX. in 1998. She was a resident of St. James House and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Faythara A. Lyons Williams, 70, passed away on January 8, 2013 in Houston, TX.

She was born and raised in Ruston, LA. She was the daughter of the late R.B and Cascile Lyons. She attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1961.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at The New Peaceful Rest Baptist Church, 6520 Heffernan Street, Houston, TX 77087.
