Smith, Nicholson to marry

Veronica Williams, of Ruston, and Joey Smith, of Choudrant, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Katie Smith, of Ruston, to Jordan Nicholson, of Ruston.

Katie is the granddaughter of Bobby and Joyce Kay Smith, of Choudrant.

She is a 2007 graduate of Ruston High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she played softball.

Katie is currently employed at Sterling Pharmacy in marketing development.

Douglas, Smith to unite in matrimony

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Douglas, of Lafayette, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Kathryn Nicole Douglas and Theodore Littleton Smith.

The bride elect is the granddaughter of Peggy Douglas, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and the late Billy Douglas, Sr., Carolyn Volentine, of Farmerville, and the late Robert Singleton.

She is a 2005 graduate of Beau Chene High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Nicole is currently employed as an ELA teacher at Milton Junior High in Lafayette.

Tech Archives are home to history

Since 1945 Louisiana Tech University has housed many different artifacts from various points in history. From artwork and woodwork done by the prisoners at Camp Ruston to first editions of major authors from the 17th century, the Archives, located on the fourth floor of Wyly Tower, are home to thousands of pieces of history.
Donald Kaczvinsky, dean of the liberal arts department at Tech, said his interest in the Archives came when Lorna Kardatzke gave a letter written by Charles Dickens, which began the Frellsen Fletcher Smith collection at Tech.

Negron, Aaron to wed in Mexico

Erin Negron and Paden Aaron, of Ruston, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride elect is the daughter of Jackie and Penny James and Jorge and Nancy Negron. She is the granddaughter of the late Roger and Paulina Gagnon, of Leesville, and the late Jose and Nelcy Negron, of Leesville.

Erin is a 2003 graduate of Ruston High School and a 2009 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a master’s degree in speech pathology. Erin is currently employed as a speech pathologist at Overton Brooks Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Shreveport.

Johnston, Koonce to exchange vows

Chuck and Melinda Johnston, of Ruston, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter Molly Johnston to Klay Koonce, son of Keith and Dana Koonce, of Ruston.

Molly is a 2006 graduate of Choudrant High School and a 2012 graduate of Louisiana Tech University where she is currently pursing her graduate degree.

Klay is a 2007 graduate of Ruston High School and attended Delta Community College for his EMT certification. He is currently employed at Roseburg Forest Products.

The couple plans to marry on April 26, 2014.

Mumford, Ellington to unite in matrimony

Stephanie Mumford and Parker Ellington, both of Lake Ridge,Virginia, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mary Ann and Roger Mumford, of Calabash, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Renner, of Pleasant Hill, Ohio and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mumford.
Stephanie is a 2006 graduate of Forest Park High School and a 2011 graduate of West Virginia University with a master’s degree in education.

Tech’s Fall World Series starts Friday

in

Head coach Wade Simoneaux and the Louisiana Tech baseball team will conclude its fall season with the 12th annual Fall World Series set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
The series will last from Friday to Nov. 3 and feature the Tech Gray team competing against the Tech Black team, with both teams being selected and split up by the eight seniors on the this year’s team in the annual senior draft held this past Monday night.

Scott, Craft to exchange vows

Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Scott are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Melanie Claire Scott to Clark Michael Craft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Craft.
Melanie is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Washington, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Scott and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Rushton.
Clark is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Craft, Mrs. Jimmie England and the late Paul T. Clark.
The wedding will take place at Gravan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Ark. on Nov. 23.

RHS freshmen lose; JV team wins

It was a split decision for the Bearcats Monday night as the Ruston High freshman team fell to Neville by a score of 33-6 while the junior varsity team countered with a 32-7 win over the Tigers. Pictured above is Ruston’s Walter Keitavious running for daylight in the JV contest while pictured below is Bearcats’ running back Deveontre Modest looking for a rushing hole in the freshman game.

Aycock, Kavanaugh to marry

Billy and Cathy Aycock, of Dubach, are pleased to announce the forthcoming wedding of their daughter Amy Aycock to Jason Kavanaugh, of Dubach.
Amy is the granddaughter of the late Lavelle and Virginia Aycock and the late Jerry and Betty Brown.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Ruston High School and a 2007 graduate of Louisiana Tech University.
She is currently employed at Northern Louisiana Medical Center as a registered nurse.
