If Cedar Creek’s recent win in the “Jam at the Joe” was whisker close, then their regular season opening victory had a wider gap than the Grand Canyon.
Fueled by the touchdown counts of four different players, the Cougars trounced Tensas 51-0 on Saturday night.
It was the second straight year in which Cedar Creek, ranked among the Top 10 teams in Class 1A by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, rolled up huge point differential on the Panthers. In a 2011 opener, the Cougars were a 53-0 victory.

The Bobcats, one of the newest members of the Western Athletic Conference, weren’t supposed to prevail in that 2012 opener at the Cougars’ Robert Stadium, but did so in convincing fashion. Final score: 30-13.

The announcement was made during Louisiana Tech’s fall faculty and staff meeting in Howard Auditorium.
