James, Roaf named for New Orleans Hall

Call it a “Hall of Fame Summer” for Aaron James and Willie Roaf.
If there’s an induction ceremony on the calendar, there’s a good chance two of Lincoln Parish’s legendary athletes are involved in it.
James, a two-time All-American and three-time All-Southwestern Athletic Conference basketball player at Grambling State University, has already been inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and GSU Legends Hall of Fame.

Eddie W. Harvey

Eddie W. Harvey was born on October 21, 1936 in Quitman, LA., to Lawson C. "Pete" Harvey and Mary Cooper Harvey. He passed away on August 1, 2012 following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Ruston, on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 2:00pm, with visitation from 12:00 until funeral time at the church.

Mr. Harvey was a graduate of Quitman High School and of LA. Tech in 1959 with a degree in petroleum engineering. While at Tech he met his wife, Melva Jones, of Bastrop, LA. They were married on November 8, 1958.

Elaine Colvin Boyd

Graveside services for Mrs. Elaine Colvin Boyd, age 91,of Ruston will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Connie Smith.
Mrs. Boyd was born August 28, 1920 and passed away August 1, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Thomas Harden and Leon Boyd; siblings: Bessie Lea Goss, Perline Bristow, Judson Colvin, Johnny Colvin, Huey Colvin, Max Colvin, and Hays Colvin.

Mrs. Boyd was a retired Beauty Operator in Kansas.
