When William Roaf played football, he never worried about future awards or — for sure — one day being a member of the sport’s most exclusive “club.”
But after a brilliant 13-year career in the National Football League, he has a warehouse full of individual honors and is less than a day away from being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Monies to boost training program

A literacy program by Louisiana Delta Community College received approximately $397,000 in grants earlier this summer that will be spread to all of its campuses — including Ruston and Farmerville — and will help certain students pay for their educational costs.

Event includes style show, dinner, auction

Members of the Ruston High School dance line will model fashions from local shops when they take the stage at the Annual Style Show/Dinner on Monday evening.
The event, which typically draws 350-400 attendees, will take place at the Ruston Civic Center.
“We’ve been doing this since 1993,” said Melanie Garrison, who, along with Beth Yenser, is Bearcat Belles co-sponsor. “For the clothing, we are using all local stores, except the seniors always model evening wear, so we are modeling evening wear from one store in Monroe.”

Councilman reflects on experience, explains ‘guilty’ plea
MAYFIELD.jpg

“To go through a judicial system, it stays a part of your life up until it’s over,” Mayfield said. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s done with several lessons learned.”
After being charged with aggravated assault last October, Mayfield pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of disturbing the peace.
