Tech, GSU will repeat as champs

in
Davis, OK.jpg

Repeat, repeat.
Ditto for Louisiana Tech.
Ditto for Grambling State.
Yes, look for repeats on the part of both Lincoln Parish teams when talk turns to conference championships in their respective conferences for the soon-to-arrive 2012 football season.
Unless somebody raises their hand and offers a debate, I don’t see many disagreeing with such assessment for the Bulldogs and Tigers. The big story will be if they don’t — repeat, don’t — repeat as title bearers for the Western Athletic Conference and Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Close for Cedar Creek High, not so much for Ruston High.
But the bottom line: both city schools were winners at the fourth annual “Jam at the Joe” at Joe Aillet Stadium on Saturday.
Thanks to an 80-yard touchdown run by running back Grant Jonkheer, then a two-point conversion pass from quarterback Mark Van to wideout Ryan Dwyer with 1:45 remaining, the Cougars nudged past Rayville 22-21.

Council votes to roll millages forward to collect more tax monies

DUBACH — Dubach Town Council held its monthly meeting on Aug. 20, voting on resolutions that would increase its revenue, make an appointment to the Lincoln Parish Fire District and give the town authority to submit an application for a state-funded grant.
Before the official meeting convened, a required public hearing took place 15 minutes beforehand, with no comment coming from the general public. The required hearing stemmed from the increased property assessments in the town, resulting in a lower millage rate.
During the public hearing, Tina Hensley, the town clerk, explained to the council members the impact the resolutions would have on the town finances.
