Youth should protect mouth during sports activities

With RPAR’s Youth Basketball season about to get under way, the department wants to make sure every child does any and everything possible to prevent injury, especially to their faces. Accidents are bound to happen and a blow to the face or a fall while playing basketball can possibly result in chipped or broken teeth, nerve damage and in severe cases, tooth loss.

Virgil Green "Bud" Holder

Services for Virgil Green "Bud" Holder will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, at Newellton First Baptist Church with Bro. Glen Roberts and Bro. J. Fulton McGraw officiating.  Interment will be in the Legion Memorial Cemetry in Newellton, LA under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, LA.

Virgil Green "Bud" Holder, 73, of Newellton, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, in the University of Mississipp Medical Center in Jackson, MS after an injury which occured at home on May 31, 2012.

James Wilfred “Jay” Strozier, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. James Wilfred “Jay” Strozier, Jr., age 51; of Lafayette will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 6p.m. at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ruston Louisiana by Brother Dalton Shovan, officiating.

Mr. Strozier passed away in New Orleans, LA after a brief illness on May 31, 2012. He was an underwater diver for the oil industry down in South Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his father James Wilfred Strozier, Sr.; sister Audra Leigh Strozier; grandparents: Homer Sam & Annabelle Strozier, and Herbert & Orville Parnell.
