BOSSIER CITY — When you’ve got three Pro Football Hall of Famers, a Super Bowl champion and eight Pro Bowlers gathered in one place, you would think the chief topic of conversation would revolve around the game.
Not in the case of Sunday night’s celebrity pairings’ party/silent auction held for the seventh annual Shack Harris/Doug Williams Foundation event held in the Riverdome Room of the Horseshoe Casino.
“Honestly, we don’t talk shop,” admitted former Super Bowl hero Williams, the head coach at Grambling State University. “This is all about the Foundation’s annual event and doing something for others and how we can give something back.

This is where the Lincoln Parish Police Jury is with the removal of woodwaste.

Convenient travel destinations

Lacey Sharp.jpg

While temperatures are rising, so are gas prices and travel expenses. With so many wanting to go on beach vacations or tropical getaways, the cost factor can hinder any hopeful venture. Luckily, Ruston residents can easily take a day-trip or a quick weekend excursion.
Located within Interstate 20’s reach are the metropolitan areas of Jackson, Miss., and Shreveport. Approximately two hours away, Jackson offers several “things to do,” including the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum/ National Agricultural Aviation Museum, Medgar Evers Library, the Smith Robertson Museum and Culture Center, the Jackson Zoological Park and the Mississippi Children’s Museum, along with several musical events, festivals and historical homes waiting for a visit.

Hillcrest principal prepares for new year

in

As we finish our 2011-12 school year, we are excited about planning for the changes coming with the 2012-13 school year. Most of you know by now that we will have paired elementary schools in the Ruston school district — Glenview/Cypress Springs and Hillcrest/Ruston Elementary.
We have been packing our teaching materials, personal teaching items, textbooks, labeling every piece of classroom furniture to prepare for our moving.
What a great way to clean out and discover things that have been pushed back in the closet!
