Grambing State University honored its Golden Graduates during spring commencement exercises on Saturday. Here, they pose with President Frank Pogue. The 50th Anniversary honorees (1962 graduates) were presented golden reunion certificates during the ceremonies.

History professor to receive ‘ATLAS’ grant

Louisiana Tech assistant professor of history Laurie S. Stoff has been awarded a Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund Award to Louisiana Scholars and Artists, or ATLAS, grant for academic year 2012-13. 
Stoff is the first member of the Tech faculty to be awarded an ATLAS grant, which will enable her to focus on her current research project, which focuses on the experiences of wartime nurses in Russia during World War I. She will use the grant to complete a book, “More than Binding Men’s Wounds: Women’s Medical Service in Russia during the Great War.”

BE GREAT scholarship winners

The Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana would like to congratulate the recipients of the Fred Dean Hall of Fame BE GREAT scholarships. New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson, who recently spoke at the Pro Day Luncheon, said “Kids need to make sure they stay focused on school!” This philosophy lined up with one of the goals of Pro Day, which was to present scholarships to students to help ensure that they would continue their education.

Interment will follow in the Mineral Springs Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. You are invited to a celebration of Ilse’s life in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
