Help all children experience camp

The school year is drawing to a close and kids everywhere are anticipating their summer break. Although there are many plans to be had during this time of year, summer camp is on many “to do” lists.
Yet, while summer camp is only a means of freedom to many school-aged children, it can serve as an improvement in the quality of life for those suffering with a chronic illness or disability.

Hope is available to addicts

This past week, several young adults were arrested by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office on a multitude of drug related offenses, all within one drug-sting operation. If this comes as a shock to some, it shouldn’t.
According to a report posted on www.gov.state.la.us, in 2007, 9 percent of adults in Louisiana used illicit drugs, excluding marijuana, in any given 30 day period. The national average that year was 8.5 percent. Youth ages 12-17 were .08 percent above the national average in the same year. These statistics did not include prescription pill abuse, which is soaring in illegal use nationwide.
