Tech’s Hayes is long jump WAC champ

MOSCOW, Idaho — Louisiana Tech University’s Chelsea Hayes won Western Athletic Conference title No. 11 and qualified for the finals in two races, as action kicked off at the WAC outdoor track and field championships on the campus of the University of Idaho Thursday.
Following Thursday’s events, the women’s team was in seventh place. The men’s team ended the day in fourth place.

GSU baseballers face Jackson State

Grambling State University finishes out its regular season baseball schedule this weekend before opening action in next week’s Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.
The Tigers (21-23) will play host to Jackson State University (31-14, 21-3) today starting at 3 p.m. before playing at JSU’s diamond on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m.
Grambling State is currently in third place in the conference’s West Division standings, while JSU is in first place among East Division members.
