Donohoe to speak at Techsters’ banquet

in

Louisiana Tech University alum and longtime NCAA Division I women’s basketball administrator Sue Donohoe will be the featured speaker at the Lady Techster Appreciation Banquet on April 20.
The annual banquet will be held at the Tech Student Center starting at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.). Tickets are $20 per person and $240 for a table of eight.

Soccer ‘Fun Test’ slated for Tech

Louisiana Tech University’s soccer program will host its second annual “Fun Fest” along with the inaugural soccer alumni and faculty/staff games on Saturday at noon at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
The event is another free service put on by the Tech soccer team with the intention of promoting the sport of soccer in the Ruston community.
The Lady Techster program already offers free soccer clinics and also created the Ruston Soccer Club.

Sparta Shoot set for Wild Wings

Downsville’s Wild Wings will be the site of the “Sparta Shoot” sporting clays competition June 16.
The event is being presented by The Sparta Foundation for the purpose of continuing the educational process and awareness of saving the Sparta aquifer. All proceeds will benefit such efforts in North Central Louisiana.

Tech, Ruston students win karate awards

Several karate students from Louisiana Tech University and the Ruston area recently competed in the 2012 national championships held in Albuquerque, N.M.
Jordan’s Korean Karate and the Tech team instructed by David Jordan and Buster Cotten featured several winners in the tournament.
Gaining two national titles in their individual events were JaVorius Canna (koshiki and kumite) and Alyssa Patterson (weapons kata and kata).
