Techsters face NSU

in

Louisiana Tech is scheduled to host Northwestern State today at 6 p.m. in a single non-conference game at the Lady Techster Softball Complex as long as Mother Nature cooperates.
Forecasts were calling for possible showers in the area; however, head coach Sarah Dawson said a decision on postponing or canceling the contest wouldn’t be made until early afternoon.
Tech has already had three home dates postponed or cancelled due to rain this year as the Lady Techsters have only played six out of 34 games in Ruston. The Lady Techsters are also scheduled to play a three-game Western Athletic Conference series this weekend against defending league champion New Mexico State Friday and Saturday.

After more than two years of planning and construction, the additions to the Maxie Lambright Intramural Center on Louisiana Tech University’s campus are nearing completion.
A soft opening is set for April 16, at which point the two new main entrances will be open as well as some of the new additions.
Although the new facilities are open primarily to current students, any student who has paid into the project will receive free membership for the number of quarters that they paid into it.

The socialism of language

Patrick Boyd.jpg

When did subject-verb agreements become so unpopular?
The current state of language, the English language or any language for that matter, is not in good shape.
When I see words like “okay” simplified down to “k” or “what” becoming “wat,” it looks like our words are losing their muscle mass.

Tax, millage votes upcoming

in
Nancy Bergeron.jpg

T-minus 17 days and counting — until the April 21 tax referendum, that is.
On the ballot: two public school property tax millage renewals, one sheriff’s department property tax millage renewal, and a quarter-cent sales tax proposal that would generate new money for the sheriff’s office.
What’s that you say? Haven’t heard a whole bunch in depth about any of this except perhaps the sales tax, which has become the star of the show? Not surprising. There’s a strategic reason for that.
