Last week we shared a few thoughts concerning helping others, and I now wish to express thanks that we for a brave group of people. And may I fervently repeat a wise statement — freedom and protection are not without cost.

What's up with the population?

The United Nations warns us that the world’s population is about to surpass 7 billion people. Many fear this is the result of ‘population explosion,’ described as a condition where an organism’s numbers exceed the carrying capacity of its habitat.” Experts opine that, “Humans are 10,000 more common than they should be according to the rules of the animal kingdom, and we have agriculture to thank for that.”

Man questions future of America

During the 1800s, Russia had an upper class and peasants. For the upper class, life was at its best for those times. It never entered their minds that the good life as they knew it would end. They exercised no concern for the masses that did all the work. The peasant workers lived a miserable life in comparison with no hope or means to improve their status. Resentment grew and grew by the workers, which culminated into a massive revolt against the upper class. In October of 1917, the military and the peasants took control of the largest country in the world.

Hotel talks show progress

In recent months, the Town of Grambling has done numerous things to work at bringing economic development to the area, and although things may be moving a little slower than town officials would like, things are looking up for Grambling and its residents.
The town is currently working on two separate spots, each for a different hotel — one would sit on approximately 9.28 acres of land across from Church’s Chicken on R.W.E. Jones Drive with the other behind the Bingo Hall at the old building that was previously used as a hotel in the 1970s right off of Interstate 20 exit 81.
