In an area of longtime expertise for Louisiana Tech University’s football program, the receivers had an overall inconsistent day Saturday during the first scrimmage of the spring.
Dropped passes, lack of follow through on some routes and just a flat demeanor with a position that should be one of the Bulldogs’ strong points in 2012.
It still will be, regardless of how that nearly two-hour event evolved on the FieldTurf of Joe Aillet Stadium.

Cedar Creek boosts baseball mark to 12-5

Cedar Creek High’s baseball team stopped Oak Grove 9-5 and rolled past Simsboro 12-1 during weekend action.
The Cougars of Head Coach Ben Haddox improved to an overall record of 12-5.
Highlighting the offensive performance for Cedar Creek was a home run by Stephen Kunz in the 9-5 victory.

LHF vital to health of the parish

This past week, the Lincoln Health Foundation had their annual meeting in the Lincoln Parish Library’s meeting room to review their efforts over the past year.
At the meeting, members of the community shared the impact the LHF is having in the community of Ruston and surrounding areas and how certain programs implemented this past year have benefited the community.
From Life Choices to Lincoln Parish Schools, the LHF has provided grants and funds to help these places grow and foster a more active community.

Children represent the future

Early last week I had the privilege of heading over to Paul E. Slaton Headstart to talk with students about communication and how everyone could utilize the newspaper.
In a sit-down talk with about 15 children it didn’t take long to find out what they were each interested in or to learn that they did know a little bit about the newspaper at such a young age.
Although some of what they thought was a tad incorrect they were still grasping the idea of the purpose of the newspaper.

Student booked in textbook theft case

A Grambling State University student was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing textbooks and resisting arrest, even after being tased by GSU Police Department officers.
Joshua Jamone Morris, 25, no known local address, was charged with burglary, theft greater than $500, resisting arrest by flight and two counts of battery of a police officer.
According to his arrest affidavit, GSUPD responded to a complaint of an unauthorized male subject dressed in all black, roaming the halls of Woodson Hall on GSU’s campus.
