Tech, GSU hoops legacy honored

In the past several weeks, the legacy of the men’s basketball programs at Lincoln Parish’s two universities has been fittingly recognized.
On the campus of Louisiana Tech University recently, Memorial Gymnasium was officially renamed as Scotty Robertson Memorial Gymnasium.
And the facility’s court was named as the Scotty Robertson Court.
It was a fitting gesture, given Robertson’s many contributions to the school’s long running success in the sport.

Is the super season beginning to wear just a bit on Louisiana Tech University’s football team?
Oh, not in terms of wins or ridiculous amounts of offensive yards being rolled up.
Those categories, they’re just fine: eight wins (which equals last year’s total) and a plethora of yards and points.

Dykes on chart for Kentucky job

in

Sonny Dykes has only one concern this week: get a win over Texas State University on Saturday.
Forget about any coaching rumors that have begun revolving around the third-year head coach at Louisiana Tech University.
No sooner had Joker Phillips been fired as the top man at the University of Kentucky on Sunday did Dykes join a “short list” of possible candidates to lead the Southeastern Conference program.

He’s a living legend with a legacy that will continue to thrive at Louisiana Tech.
Billy Jack Talton, professor emeritus and powerlifting coach at Louisiana Tech from 1974 to 2001, had his name remembered by powerlifters in the future, as the fitness room in the Maxie Lambright Intramural Sports Center was named after him during homecoming ceremonies this past weekend.
The dedication of the new swimming pools and the honoring of Talton took place in the complex’s atrium.
