Help youth during holiday breaks

For most schools Thanksgiving break started today. The majority of area children will have this week off, return to school for approximately three weeks and then be back on break again.
Even though most school children eagerly await this time of year, the ever-changing schedule and vast amounts of time out of the classroom may present some unintended negative consequences.

The mad rush of Black Friday

Ready, set, shop! Yes, it is that time of year again. The time for everyone to go out into the madness in hopes of finding “that perfect gift,” or at least something that resembles some kind of thought.
I’ve never been one for the holiday shopping excursions. Oh, I love to shop, just not during the holidays. It is usually not a fun experience, and for that reason, I choose to do my holiday shopping in the late afternoon of Christmas Eve. Although I don’t run into too many people, I always see the same committed procrastinators — such as myself — every year. We should start a club.

Final suspect apprehended

Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office officials believe they have made the final arrest in a string of burglaries and thefts committed on a residence on Ted Drive through the past few months.
Maj. Chad Alexander, a spokesman for the LPSO, said that Vishine Scott, 36, of 207 S. Farmerville St., was arrested on Friday in connection with the burglaries and thefts.
Alexander said the suspect allegedly stole two utility trailers filled with miscellaneous items and then sold them to All Star Recycling.

Walpole, O'Neal unite in matrimony

Lindsey Walpole, of Ruston, and Kyle O'Neal, of Warren, Ark., were united in matrimony in a 6 p.m. ceremony Nov. 17 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston. Officiating the double-ring ceremony was Dr. Rick Byargeon.

Lindsey is the daughter of Steve and Ginger Walpole, of Ruston, and she is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Walpole, of Ruston, and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gunter, of Navasota, Texas.

Kyle is the son of Eddie and Linda O'Neal, of Warren. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Williams and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray O'Neal.

Blackmon, Liner wed in October

Brittany Blackmon, of Ruston, and Christopher Liner, of Ruston, exchanged vows in a 6 p.m. ceremony on Oct. 6 in Benton at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Mike Banda. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Judge Tom Bryson Jr.

The bride is the daughter of Dena Selmer, of Bossier City, and she is the granddaughter of the late Carol and Erik Selmer.

The groom is the son of Jeanine and Jim Liner, of Ruston, and he is the grandson of the late Jean and J.T. Liner and the late Sue and Weldon Walker.

Crume, Fuller exchange vows

Morgan Crume, of Ruston, and Benjamin Graham Fuller, of Ruston, were united in matrimony in a 6 p.m. ceremony Oct. 27 at Temple Baptist Church. Officiating the double-ring ceremony was Josh Sanderson.

The bride is the daughter of Kevin and Jenny Crume, of Ruston, and the granddaughter of Bob and Lely Hedrick, of Baton Rouge, Cecelia Hedrick, of Ruston, Charlotte Crume, of Ruston, and the late Donald Crume.

Graham is the son of Donna Hood, of Ruston, and Kenneth Fuller, of Monroe. He is the grandson of Ben and Marilyn Gullatt, of Ruston, and Charles and Larnell Fuller, of Ruston.
