Some of the leading players for Lincoln Parish football teams last weekend:
COLLEGE
• LOUISIANA TECH: Linebacker Chip Hester had 14 tackles, including eight solos, along with a pass interception return for a touchdown.
• GRAMBLING STATE: Running back Jeremy Runner rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown (one-yard run) on 14 carries.
HIGH SCHOOL
• CEDAR CREEK: Running back Grant Jonkheer rushed for 55 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries and also caught a pass for a touchdown.

G-Men: Duel in ‘Big D’

The Tigers and Panthers are both 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, where they share last place in the West Division.
“We’re both struggling right now,” said Grambling Head Coach Doug Williams. “This is definitely a must win game for both of us.”
The 6 p.m. battle in what has become known as the Texas State Fair Classic will not only decide who vacates the divisional cellar, but also whether or not Grambling can apply the brakes to one of the slowest starts in the program’s legendary history.

Tech hosts Top 25 Denver in soccer

The Louisiana Tech soccer team will face a Rocky Mountain of a task todaywhen they host top-25 ranked (Soccer America) and preseason WAC favorite Denver Pioneers at 4 p.m. at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
The two schools have never met before on the soccer field, but with the addition of Denver to the conference, the Techsters (9-1-3, six-game win streak) will kick off their WAC opener and put their 5-0 home record on the line against the mighty Pioneers, who are currently riding a 12-game unbeaten streak at 9-1-3.

Alice Mason

Graveside services for Alice Mason, age 82, of Ruston will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Pines Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Mason passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Mason; son: Scott Mason; parents; Christopher and Helena Rogers; 10 brothers and one sister.
