Each October, along with the reds, yellows and browns of fall, many people begin to see pink. That’s because pink is the color associated with breast cancer awareness, and October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Brown shows her love of Ruston

Robyn Brown is passionate about Ruston. She grew up here, went to school here and came back here after Hurricane Katrina. Robyn Brown is passionate about volunteering. She’s volunteered at her children’s schools, her church, community groups, you name it.

More than 20 years ago a package of significant fiscal legislation passed the Legislature, and the voters strongly approved amendments to our state constitution. The Legislature designed these reforms to bring more stability to state finances by restricting the use of volatile revenues in funding state services.

Sherman M. Henry, Jr.

Graveside services for Sherman M. Henry, Jr. 83, of Ruston will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Dubach, 11:00AM Thursday, October 4, 2012 under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel
of Ruston. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Oden. Mr. Henry died October 1, 2012
in Ruston.

Mr. Henry was a US Navy WW II veteran and a longtime active member of Temple Baptist Church. He was retired from Texas Gas Co. and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Shores Henry; Daughter and Son in Law, Nancy Jo and Johnny McGee.

Heaven gained a special angel on September 29, 2012, when Robert Carroll Perritt left this earth to use his gifts in a broader fashion. Rob had a zest for life and of adventure. He was like the Pied Piper who led all of the people he loved down a path of optimism no matter the circumstances in which they found themselves. He loved his family, and he used the life lessons that his family taught him to create new families with others to whom he was not related.
