Parents need time for themselves

Question: I gave birth to our second child a few weeks ago so I’m sleep-deprived and running low on patience. In the meantime, my 3-year-old son has become another person. He has regressed with potty training; he isn’t cooperating with me about anything, and he laughs when I put him in time-out, like it’s a joke.

NLMC to host second annual United Way Campaign

Northern Louisiana Medical Center will soon kick-off its Second Annual United Way Campaign. Last year, employees at Northern Louisiana Medical Center helped to raise more than $20,000 in its campaign efforts.
Larger efforts included a hamburger and hotdog cookout, silent auction, basket raffle, selling coke bottles by the case and general employee contributions.
This year NLMC will kickoff its fundraising efforts Friday with the hamburger and hotdog cookout.

Reports of Ruston High’s early season demise in football have obviously been over exaggerated.
Just ask Bastrop High.
From all indications, Friday night’s meeting of the Bearcats and Rams was lined up as a veritable one-side affair and it wasn’t favoring the team wearing red and white.
After a 48-0 rout over Greenville, Miss., in the season opener, Bastrop was a heavy favorite to make it back-to-back losses for RHS, who lost 42-6 to Monroe Neville High in its first contest.

Tech soccer team wins, improves mark to 5-1-3

JACKSON, Miss. — Freshman Abby Sentz (Kingwood, Texas) scored the game’s lone goal in the Louisiana Tech soccer team’s 1-0 victory over Jackson State University Sunday afternoon at JSU Soccer Complex.
The matchup was the first of four consecutive road games for the Lady Techsters.
“The team is playing with a lot of heart to overcome the worst luck I have experienced with injuries,” said head coach Kevin Sherry.

RJHS teams take victories

Ruston Junior High School’s seventh and eighth grade football teams began their 2011 season on a winning note earlier this week with victories over Famerville Junior High.
In the seventh grade contest, RJHS won 32-8. The eighth graders were a 16-0 winner.
The Bearkittens’ seventh graders got touchdowns from Terrence Dodson on an eight-yard run and 45-ytard run, Timerion Robertson on an 18-yard run, a 32-yard run by DeAnthony Lyons and 60-yard run by Jamarion Smith.
