Luke McCown in starting role again

Former Tech star to lead Jaguars against Titans

If his head coach and teammates put any legitimate stock into past statistics and playing time, Luke McCown could go into today’s 2011 season opener with a major chip on his shoulder.
The former Louisiana Tech University star is 1-6 lifetime as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
His last start came nearly four years ago.

Cedar Creek crushes JHHS, 46-0

Maybe Cedar Creek High’s football team should think about doubling up as boxers.
After two games of the 2011 season, the Cougars have delivered major knockout punches.
First, it was a 53-0 romp past Tensas in the season opener.
Then on Friday night, playing on its own field again, Cedar Creek sent Jonesboro-Hodge to the canvas with a 46-0 victory.

Bearcats bounce Bastrop, 36-14

BASTROP — The Ruston Bearcats have emphatically done their part to lend credence to an old coaches’ theory that a football team shows its greatest improvement between weeks one and two.
Bouncing back from a 42-7 opening week loss to Neville, the Bearcats soundly defeated Bastrop 36-14 Friday night at Ram Stadium.
Playing like a team with something to prove, the Bearcats jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead.
