For the former Tigers’ All-American quarterback and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and his team, the future is clearly now.

NBA Hall of Famer marvelled at ex-Tech coach’s love of game
A9-Barkley.jpg

Over a 16-year career in the NBA that included stops with three different franchises, Charles Barkley dealt with a myriad of coaching personolities.
In the unofficial category of “genuine” and good-hearted, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer might have never met one that fit the description any better than Scotty Robertson.

Knowledge will be crucial in GSU QB showdown

in
Boatright, T. Scott.jpg

There’s no question Doug Williams left his mark on the Grambling State football program as a player and as a coach.
Now back for his second stint as football coach, he’s restoring the pride for the GSU program. There’s a new Tiger statue standing in front of the Eddie Robinson Stadium Support Complex, which has been given the name “Pride” by junior receiver Dezmond Spivey.
Pride is a acronym standing for the words “Perserverance, Restoring the tradition, Innovative, Determination and Education.”

Cedar Creek eager to learn from scrimmage loss

After a two-hour scrimmage with Shreveport Loyola Prep High on Friday night, there was no need for Cedar Creek High to dwell on a loss.
The 21-0 digits flashing on the Cougar Stadium scoreboard was clear evidence.
Instead, for second-year Head Coach Ben Haddox and his staff, this more of a time to learn from mishaps and build for the future, one rapidly approaching with a “Jam at the Joe” assignment against Homer on Saturday.

Coastal problems: A big concern

in
A11-Fishing.jpg

Sitting up here in the north Louisiana hills, our main concern is when in the heck is this drought going to end and when will we have some cooler weather. How are these harsh conditions going to affect our hunting seasons just around the corner?
Will the deer starve to death? Are there any acorns for the squirrels? Will the glowing reports of record numbers of waterfowl up north be lost in water holes that have dried up down our way?
