James "Randy" Lindsey

James "Randy" Lindsey passed away Saturday July 3rd, due to a sudden illness, at the age of 54. Randy was a resident of DeBerry, Texas. He is survived by his daughter Anne-Marie Lindsey, her husband Alex Neill, and grandson Jacob Ryan Lindsey, all of Fort Rucker, AL., mother Mary S. Lindsey of Cotton Valley, brother David Lindsey of Minden, sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Bill Kaylor of Cotton Valley, fiancee Liz Stelly Regard, and long-time friend, "Uncle" Bud Sutton, along with a host of other family and friends.

Bird, Haley to exchange vows July 23

Rebecca Bird, of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Ben P. Haley, of Ruston, are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride is a retired public school music teacher and serves as a pianist at the church where the wedding will take place.

The groom is a retired local physician.

The couple first met in 1957 at Louisiana Tech University where Ben was the Tech drum major and Rebecca was a majorette. They became reacquainted in mid October 2010 at their 50-year Louisiana Tech reunion.

Lands celebrate 70 years of marriage

James “Doc” and Freddie Land, of Choudrant, were married July 9, 1941.
The couple have four children — Joyce Kay Smith, Judy Harris, Mary Jones, Mike Land — eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
