A healthy lunch

Ginette Butitta (left) and Doris Slade, both of Ruston, were two area seniors who enjoyed a free lunch after participating in a recent health fair sponsored by the Lincoln Council on Aging. Participants were treated to presentations by various health care agencies and vendors before eating lunch.

Flag is more than fabric

There are several times a year to write about patriotic themes. I enjoy doing so. These include the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Flag Day. Sometimes I feel a little cramped in sharing some thoughts at Flag Day, which is June 14, so I thought that this year I would use a little extra column space in referring to this holiday. Therefore I write of Flag Day, both today and then next Tuesday, June 14.

Support the Peach Festival

Every year in late June, thousands of people gather in downtown Ruston to sample peaches, shop for arts and crafts and participate in various contests during the annual Squire Creek Louisiana Peach Festival.

Causey joins Tech broadcast team

Louisiana Tech University athletics and its multimedia rights holder, LA Tech Sports Properties, announced today that former Bulldog quarterback Max Causey will join the LA Tech Sports Network this fall as the sideline reporter for the majority of football games.

Hogan, Katzenmeyer exchange vows

Laura Nicole Hogan, of Choudrant, and Alan William Katzenmeyer, of Vicksburg, Miss., wed in a 3 p.m. ceremony June 4 at the First Baptist Church of Ruston.

Bill Sanderson officiated the ceremony.

Laura is the daughter of Mike and Sandy Hogan, of Choudrant. She is the granddaughter of Clinton and Janice Hammons, of Choudrant, Bob and Billie Hogan, of Choudrant, and the late Lorena Hogan.
