Tech, UL-Lafayette set grid series

Louisiana Tech athletics director Bruce Van De Velde and head football coach Sonny Dykes announced that Tech has signed a home-and-home football series agreement with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette beginning with the 2014 season.
The two teams will play in Lafayette on Oct. 4, 2014 at Cajun Field before facing off at Ruston’s Joe Aillet Stadium on Oct. 3, 2015. The agreement is expected to foster future scheduling agreements in all sports.
“We look forward to scheduling competitions in all sports against UL-Lafayette in the very near future,” said Van De Velde.

District 5 squad improves to 13-2

in

Louisiana’s District 5 baseball team is now 13-2 after winning 10-5 over Minden in an early week contest.
Coach Eddie Parkman’s area-based squad got a winning effort on the mound from Jared Dye and offensive support from Joe Robbins (single, home), Mitch Tatum (double, RBI), Cade Thomason (single, RBI), Ross Moore (single, RBI), Jonathan Jones (single, RBI) and Sloan Dieter (single, two RBIs).
