Man booked with arson

On May 20, Ruston Police Department officers at 7:25 a.m. arrested Billy Ray Dixon, 28, of 220 Union Grove Church Road in Lillie, and charged him with simple arson and criminal mischief.

Many locals pay it forward

When it comes to “paying it forward,” Lincoln Parish and the surrounding region is rich indeed.
The Pay It Forward Foundation was established in September 2000 by author Catherine Ryan Hyde and others to educate and inspire students to realize that they can change the world, and provide them with opportunities to do so. The idea is that providing acts of kindness can change the world, and hopefully inspire others to help you when and if the need arises.

Teen killed on U.S. 80

A 16-year-old boy is dead after his vehicle collided with a wooden utility pole early this morning.
Just after midnight, a Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office parked radar unit observed a 2003 Honda Accord speeding on U.S. Highway 80.
Maj. Stephen Williams, spokesman for LPSO, said the unit had been set up running radar when a vehicle came by going 79 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.
He added the unit then pulled out after the speeding vehicle, signaling his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
