J.R. (Jack) Farmer

Funeral services for Mr. J.R. (Jack) Farmer, age 90 of Choudrant, will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach. Rev. Ben Jordan will officiate the services.  Burial will follow in Mineral Springs Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Jack Farmer was born September 6, 1920 in Tupelo, Oklahoma to Barney Farmer and Eula Davenport Farmer. He went home to be with his Lord on March 20, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many in his life.

Lavaga Haggblad James

Funeral services for Mrs. Lavaga Haggblad James, age 85, of Ruston will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Burkhalter Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jerry Hilbun, Rev. Brian Mercer, and Rev. Doug McGuire. Interment will follow at Unionville Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. James was born February 8, 1926 and passed away March 20, 2011. Mrs. James was a long time, active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Deacon Malvin Staff, age 88, of Grambling will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church of Grambling, with Reverend. Anthony Slack officiating. Interment will follow at Grambling Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kings Funeral Home in Ruston. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 pm until 6:30 pm at Kings Funeral Home at 1511 West California Street in Ruston, Louisiana and will continue at 10 am until 11 am at Mount Zion Baptist Church after which the funeral services will begin.

Bradford, Goubert exchange vows

Sarah Elizabeth Goubert, of Monroe, and Charles Davis Bradford, of Houston, were married at 3 p.m. Feb. 5 at Roseland Plantation in Natchez, Miss.
The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Matt Slate.

Sarah is the daughter of Teddy Joe and Debbie Sutton, of Monroe. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Boilling Jones, III, and the late Omega “Micky” Carter Sutton.
